De Exclusive Interior Group Sparks the Interest of Millennials at DBS Bank

In the urban landscape of Singapore, the banking scene has mostly been traditional and focuses mainly on banking practices and services provided. DBS Bank Singapore, being the best private bank for Millennials, have always been redefining the conventional banking experience. With an extensive customer research, behaviour and banking preferences of their customers, DBS was confident to implement change at their branches starting with Plaza Singapura.

De Exclusive Interior Group was commissioned by the management team of DBS Bank to design the interior as their proposal stood out with new and innovative ideas that fit perfectly with the direction of DBS Bank Singapore. De Exclusive Group proposed the concept of lifestyle and incorporating the dynamic energy of the Millennials with the sophistication of the mature clientele.

Through close communication and discussion with DBS management, the use of space was well thought through and specially curated to replicate a friendly and conducive environment for customers to relax, engage and experience. Characterised by a selection of industrial-like textures, balanced with modern luxe finishes of gold, the newly renovated branch aims to provide customers with an inviting yet modern ambience. Inspired by the underground train design, craft-stone was used to fabricate brick walls; pipe lighting exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere, complemented with black trimmings and touches of gold and Dekton surfaces for a display of luxury. The repetitive display of clockwork gears represents the motion of growth and DBS Bank belief of striving to stay ahead.

This new branch encompasses technology and innovation from the video bank tellers, investment counters to the virtual reality display of education retirement planning programs. From the moment one enters, the customer will experience an entirely new perspective. At this new branch designed by De Exclusive Interior Group, DBS Bank aims to connect Millennials with new banking experience and better engagement with their banking services as well as service representatives.

Now, one would be surprised when arriving at the entrance. As one walks in, be welcomed by the wonderful aroma of freshly brewed coffee and waffles, by DBS x betterBarista. Jeanette Lee, representing the DBS x betterBarista outlet in DBS branch Plaza Singapura shares, “This is a new collaboration with DBS, and it’s an honour to be on board. Having a retail full-service brew bar and a selection of food from various social enterprises, we bring the experience of speciality coffee with a social purpose for the customers”.

The Banking Branch Manager at Plaza Singapura also commented on the excitement everyone has for the newly renovated outlet. He commented, “We all have been waiting for the unveiling of the newly renovated branch. We are thrilled to see and honoured to be the first to experience this change”.

Nicole Chia, representative of De Exclusive Interior Group shares, “We are proud to have been the first to conceptualise a new and bold approach for DBS Bank branch at Plaza Singapura. We hope that this would be the first to many more concept branches for DBS Bank across Singapore.”

The whole interior reveals a space of imagination, inspired by possibilities in this digital era.  Taken as a whole, De Exclusive Interior Group designed the branch experience with the intention to connect Millenials with the banking services and to learn more about how they can better invest for their future.
